Things you might want to get.
Just In Case.
- Water Purification
- Backpack
- Sleeping Bags
- First Aid Kit.
Set
aside some meds/painkillers/disinfectants.
- Tent.
The smaller the better, but big enough for you and your gear. It
is better to have several small tents
than one large tent.
- Dehydrated Food
- Something to start fires with
- Seeds
- Comfortable Walking/Hiking shoes
- Bicycle
- Knife or Machete.
- Shovel.
one of those small
fold up shovels.
- Some kind of ground spread.
Nothing too big unless you have several people to help carry
this stuff.
- Food, Food, Food and more Food.
- A good water source.
- Two way radio set.
- Something to recharge batteries with.
Solar or Hand crank. I am opting for solar and Hand crank.
Search your area or the path to an area that you feel you will be
safe at just in case of short notice. You might even want to bury
some supplies in this area that you have picked out. Have a long
term plan to travel to a safer location. If you know of any caverns
or caves, that would be a good place to go. In the event that a
plasma wave has knocked out all electronic circuitry, a radio,
car, motorcycle won't work unless it is a pre 72 model and some
diesel vehicles. If your mode of transportation has points and not
this new electronic ignition, you should be ok. You should still get a
radio/flashlight/hand crank charger all in one device just in case
this does not happen, but I think it is going too happen. I think
that the powers that be will see to it.
I put bicycle up on the list because I feel that you will not be able to get gas
or fuel of any kind even if vehicles do work. If you can get gas,
you wont be able to use $$$ to buy it.

This is the best one so far. Received 8-30-08 I hope I
spelled received right correctly.
For those of you that think you cannot do this, I
have this to tell you. One, you need to mentally prepare. Get the
mindset that you can do this. Don't worry about what is to come.
Just prepare for what is to come and always keep your mind ready
with a can do attitude. I will tell you this too, I have two bulging
discs in my lower back and I am out of work because of this, but
when the time comes, I will have to suck it up and put that 100-150
pounds on my back and make it happen. When that time comes, I will
be in the SURVIVAL mode. I sure don't want to be in a crowd of
bewildered people who are looking around and wondering what happened to
the world that they were so comfortable in. (Names like Alex Jones
and Steve Quayle might start coming to mind.) And I don't want to be
any where near a lot of people who will do ANYTHING for something to
eat. Just get prepared and get your mind right and you will fair
better than most. I will probably repeat this on another page, but I
want to put this out here too. If you have people following you,
Make sure that the people who are following you are not deadbeats.
Everybody will need to pull their weight. And if you are one of
those who catch up to a group who will let you in, DON'T be a
deadbeat and pull your fair share. You cannot let everybody around
you pull you along. Everybody will need to put in 110%. If you have
kids in the group, You HAVE to tell them what is going on. You
cannot keep secrets from them as they will have to understand
that they cannot go running around screaming and hollering like they
use to. The kids will also have to pull their fair share just like
everybody else. They will have to know that they will basically grow
up faster and the more you keep them informed, the better off they
will be for everybody. And for everybody in the group as a whole,
These kids will be the future and they will basically be a shared
reasonability. So parents, you will just have to get use to that. If
you can't get use to that, well, I suggest you stay behind. So long
as you get your mindset in order, you should be ok. As a group, it
is as a group and decisions should be made as a group. That is the
only way you will survive. Pick one person to kind of be the go-to
person. An elder, a leader or someone who knows which way is up.
This person will not be the ruler, but someone who can help manage
decisions.
If there is a
millionaire or two or more out there that really want to help people
survive what is to come and if you do not know what to do. Please
contact me. You cannot be materialistic in this quest for survival.
Your money would be tied up in food, energy resources, seeds,
housing and security along with other survival items that will be
needed. This housing will not be what you expect it to be. Keep that
in mind. After all this takes place, this transitioning period, your
money that you have now will no long be of any use to anybody and
probably won't even exist. But the things you have for survival will
be of more value than any money can buy. I am speaking of LIFE. If
your life and the life of others is more important to you than your
money, I can help you. If you just want to save yourself, well have
a good life because I cannot (won't) help you no matter how rich you
are.

When times go bad!
I really hate writing this, but I feel it is
something that needs to be said. This is another one of those
Just In Case things and something that could potentially happen.
This is all hypothetically speaking and I have no inside
information on this at all as of this moment. Lets just say that
if for some reason due to some kind of incident, "Oh" lets say
"A Terrorist Attack" should take place and our fine President
deems it necessary to introduce us all to Martial Law. Well,
Martial Law would pretty much shut down the good ol USA to the
point of not being able to travel from state to state, city to
city or maybe not even out of your very own town. Be prepared
for that to happen. Movement will be restricted. Then comes the
house to house searches. Taking your food, your guns and your
ammo. They will want you to rely on them for all your needs and
that is the first step towards enslavement. I don't know about
you, but this does not sound like a good way to live at all and
I have no intentions of living that way either. Anyhow, I highly
suggest that you keep your eyes on the news and have someplace
safe to go. If you live in the city, Not a good place to be. If
you live in a town, still not such a good place to be. Just be
ready is all I can say for now. If I have any news to pass
on that I have permission to pass on, I will.
Any links I add on here to other sites
that I feel would be useful, Just know that I am not an affiliate with
them. I want you to know
this so that you know that I am not here for money. I am here to help
and that is my ONLY intention. Donations I do accept. Links to
anything are just that. Links. These links are just to give you an
idea and not an endorsement to the product or company itself. I can
say this though. If at any time that I have a bad experience with
somebody, be it craftsmanship, material, delivery or just rude
people on the other end, I will probably delete it from my site.
The photos below are linked to
each item listed just for a reference point.

Eureka Apex 2XT Adventure 7-by 5-Foot Two-Person Tent .
Eureka Apex 2xt tent is 3 season, sleeps 2, has 2 doors and 2 windows a carry
weight of 5 pounds 12 oz., an area of 36.5 sq feet and a center height of 3'
7.5".
I figure this tent was good enough for
me. Just in case I do meet up with someone, this should be big enough for the
two of us, but I won't hold my breath on finding that second person. LOL I am
kind of not looking.

I ordered this backpack from a company called
ebags. It is hard to tell what size they are from their photos. I
had a choice of several but I really did not want a bag that had so
many outside pouches. So I opted for this bag. I got it in no time.
The ordering process was great. When I opened up the box, I thought
to myself, this is small. How am I going to get all my food in
there? Well, I started unzipping, unsnapping, and loosening
straps and it expanded quite nicely. So I am pleased. When I looked
inside of the top, I found a pouch for carrying a Water Bladder. I
called them up to find out it holds a 3 liter bladder. So when I got
off the phone, I set out to find a bladder. Below is what I ended up
ordering.
By the way, this backpack is made out of recycled plastic
bottles.
One other thing, If you buy from this vendor on Sunday's,
there is a 20% savings. Well at least this past Sunday it was. |
 |
This is a
CamelBak StoAway bladder. I was only looking for a bladder that was
3 liters / 100 oz in size. I was worried about the bladder having a
hole rubbed into it from what would be in my backpack. And then I
came across this one. It is housed in its own holder with a handle
at the top. So I thought this would be a great way to go to the
creek or river or lake to fetch up some water. Oh, I bet you are
thinking " yuk, water from a lake or stream?" Look below. |

easy-to-use design makes this filter a great choice for all-around
use. Filter physically removes particles, protozoa and bacteria down
to 0.3 microns in size, including Giardia, salmonella,

did not like their service and will not buy there again.

Surviving in the wild will require you to kill
game in order to survive. No matter how much food you have stored,
You will still need meat. Deer, Turkey, and other large animals
including Mountain Lions. I don't suggest that you even attempt
shooting a bear unless you are so very proficient with shooting your
crossbow and know where the heart is. It would take pretty much a
direct heart/lung shot to
bring down a bear. Hit him anywhere else and you are more than
likely to just piss him off and cause your own demise unless you are
so well hidden that he cannot find you. But when it comes right down
to it, if you are hungry and have people to feed, It just might be
worth a shot no matter how good you are. If you have a large caliber
handgun, I suggest you keep it handy to try and stop him from
charging you after you have shot the bear with your arrow. If the
bear, cat or deer have gone down, do not approach thinking it is
dead. Once you have waited long enough, approach with your gun drawn
and point at your food. If you do not have a gun, it would not hurt
to put a few more arrows into your dinner prior to your approach.
Also beware of other predators in the area prior to your approach.
Predators will want to take your food away from you. After all, they
are just like you now. Competing to stay alive at all costs. I would
also recommend that if you know of others in or near you that are
not camped with you, that you SHARE YOUR KILL. It will pay off in
the long run. Books on
bow hunting,
dressing a kill and
outdoor survival is a must even if you think you know everything
about being Daniel Boone.

This is just a suggestion. When times get tough, this just might
be the trick that feeds you. It is a very cruel way to capture
dinner, but when you are in survival mode it could be the difference
between life and death. Eating is an essential way of life. If the
thought of walking up to an animal that is trapped with a broken leg
and it is screaming, then you might want to send someone else as this can be a very rough way to harvest your
next meal. It is not for the faint of heart. You will also need to
keep in mind that an injured animal will be known when you walk up
and when you hear it, be assured that you are not the only one that
can hear it. Keep your eyes open for bears, mountain lions, wolves,
coyotes and other animals that are at the top of the food chain that
will kill you and eat you. Never leave a trap longer than a day
without checking it. Don't walk up to it unless you can't see it.
Check it from a distance to keep from putting your scent in the area
of the trap. If you set them, be prepared to check them on a regular
basis and move them often and if you have a kill, you will need to
move your trap someplace else.

Super Glue?
Super glue would be a good thing to have on
hand for many reasons, but the one that really comes to mind would
be for use with cuts. If you have a cut from a knife, rocks, glass
or any other sharp object, and if you really don't feel like
sticking yourself over and over again with a needle while you or
someone else sews you up. Just put a dab of glue on. You can also
put the glue on first knowing that everything is lined up properly,
then apply the needle and thread to your wound. Either way, Super
Glue is a very important tool to have on hand. |

Night Vision Optics will
come in very handy. I have researched this and have been trying to find
something that fits into my price range and usability. One thing that I plan on
doing is to go into the Sierra Nevada's searching for Bigfoot. So I will be
needing one of these anyhow. But if from what I am hearing and reading, the days
are going to get so hot that most traveling will be done at night. The batteries
that this uses varies. So you will want to buy one that enables you to recharge
whatever kind of battery this thing takes. So far the best bet is AA batteries.
Thus this is the reason for a good radio/flashlight/handcrank survival radio.
This way you can hand charge your AA batteries. If you find a cave to rest in or
stay in, this will come in handy for this environment. This is something I would
not skimp on if you can afford it.
The NG PVS-7 night vision goggles
are military standard
night vision goggles enabling military ground
forces
to conduct critical missions during the darkest nights of the year. Extremely
lightweight, the PVS-7 from
NG Night Vision has been
engineered for longwearing comfort. It can be hand held, helmet mounted, or
head-strap mounted for hands-free operation. Key features include: a
quick-release lever to permit one-handed attachment/detachment from helmet or
head harness; an automatic highlight cutoff to protect the image intensifier; an
"IR-on" indicator; and a low-voltage indicator. |

Chainless Technology
How Does It Work?
Dynamic Bicycles'
chainless bikes combine two innovative technologies
to create a new generation of bikes that are smoother to ride,
easier to operate, and simpler to maintain than traditional
chain bikes. The first of these technologies is our
patented shaft drive for smoothly transferring power
from the pedals to the rear wheel; the second is
Shimano's advanced internal gear hubs, whereby all the
gearing is neatly tucked away inside the rear wheel. By
integrating our shaft drive with Shimano's internal hubs, our
bikes not only have a sleek, modern look, but they deliver an
incredibly smooth ride, great performance and eliminate the
number one complaint people have always had about their bikes –
the chains and derailleur's. With our shaft drive bikes, there is
no more grease; no more mess; no more cuts on fingers or tears
in clothes; and no more chain and derailleur maintenance. Just
pure, worry-free riding fun.
The Shaft Drive
The shaft drive uses two sets of spiral
bevel gears and a shaft rod to smoothly transfer power from the
cranks to rear wheel. The bevel gears are made of heat treated
cromoly and paired with high quality sealed cartridge bearings
coupled to a steel shaft rod – all sealed inside lightweight,
durable aluminum alloy. Our shaft drive has been in production for
over five years, and is already on several thousand bikes all over
the world.
I ordered this bike today. 4-20-08 It is very expensive, but I
REALLY do believe that we will have such outrageous gas prices
in the very near future. $4.00 a gallon is not outrageous. I see
it hitting at least $7.00 a gallon or more before the end of
this year. I am only going on a gut feeling on this and nothing
more. Bikes will be hard to get very soon. And this bike looks
to be of great quality. That is why I spent more money. I will
follow up with some kind of evaluation on the bike in the next
few weeks.

The Burley Nomad Cargo Trailer features a
waterproof cover and 100 pounds of cargo capacity. Enjoy the easy
packing with the 8,000 cu. in. of space, side pockets and removable

We recommend this trailer for touring on paved and dirt roads though
it isn't suited for trail riding. The Nomad is very easy to pull,
you won’t even notice towing it to work, around town, down the trail
or across the country. The Burley Nomad centers it's weight over the
tires, putting very little weight onto your bicycle.

Edible Wild Plants: A North American Field Guide (Paperback)
I have no idea what book would be the best for
your area or for that matter, my area either. I did not link this
book since I don't want you to think I am selling anything on this
site. When you go to Amazon.com, the problem with them is that they
don't really give good descriptions of the books contents. So in
this particular book, I could not tell you if there are color photos
to help you identify plants. Drawings are ok, but photos would be a
thousand percent better. You cannot afford to make a mistake when
identifying a plant. If someone out there knows of a good book,
Please notify me. I truly do believe that this (a book of this
type.) book is a must if you plan on living off of the land or even
if you run out of food till your seeds take root and sprout fruit.

This is just to give you an idea of
what you might want to get. The cost of this package is pretty high.

rope of all kinds for all kinds of uses,
cut to order or by the spool: nylon rope, manila rope, climbing
rope, polypropylene rope & more... A must to have in any
length. If you do actually happen to bring some game down, You will
need to string it up to process your meat. Did you find a nice cave?
How will you ensure your safety? or even climb down to it? How will
you hoist your gear? How will you tie up that unruly person. LOL
Rope is a must have item when surviving. I might add that nets would
be a good item to have too. Nets can be used for game traps,
hoisting items off the ground into trees and so many more uses.
Parachute cord is another essential tool to have along with
needle and thread. Clothing repair, Equipment repair, and those
nasty cuts that need to be sewn up.

worth it. |

Cold Steel knives, machetes
Depending on how many people that will be with
you in the wild would depend on how many machetes you should have. I
really feel that each person in any group should have a machete in
their possession. If you have to build shelter, it is better to have
as many people working on it as you can. Also for each person that
is out in search of food should have one with them. In the event
that you had a predator hot on your trail/tail, I would rather use a
machete than a knife. Mountain Lions, Tigers and bears oh my. I feel
this is a must tool to add to your survival gear. The link to this
site is just that. I don't know the company at all. I bought mine at
the local survival store that I did not know we had. What a great
find.

Pepper Spray for Bears. I would imagine
that this would also work on lions, coyote, wolves, badgers, people
and any other unwanted life threatening situation. How much should
you have? I don't know. Again, you have to think about weight. |
